The Mystical Form of Thinking in the Modern Philosophy of Religion and the Mysticism of John of the Cross

Sažetak
The article ponders on and investigates the relationship between the modern philosophy of religion and the mysticism of John of the Cross. This mysticism is defined by two fundamental dimensions: via negativa and via affirmativa. The first view points out the radical difference between God and man, the distance and absence of God, the relativity of everything human compared to God, abandoning one's own ego for the sake of God himself, for the Godly view on all of reality. The second view on the contrary points out the presence, unity, togetherness with God. Based on the philosophical thoughts about Christianity, religion and mysticism by two German philosophers (Martin Heidegger and Ernst Tugendhat), the first part of the article attempts to show that mysticism presents a fundamental form of thought (»Denkform«) in modern philosophy of religion through this first presented view. The second part of the article is dedicated to a comparison of the modern philosophy of religion and the mysticism of John of the Cross, their familiarity and differences. Finally, the third part of the article points out some possible motivational guidelines to the mysticism of John of the Cross for current philosophy of religion, theology and spirituality.
