Types of personality disorders in adolescents indicated by results on the EPQ R/A and SAD personality questionnaires

An investigation was carried out on N=1105 pupils (Nm=553/Nf=552) aged between 14 and 15 years with the aim of identifying pupils with difficulties in personality development for the purpose of preventive and psychotherapeutic actions. Testing was carried out using the revised Eysenck Personality questionnaire for adults (EPQ R/A) and the Autodestruction Scale. Above average results were achieved by 29% of the subjects (+2 standard deviations) and 9.5% were in the very high bracket (+3 standard deviations). A clinical picture of the disorder indicated by the sympotamology covered by the scales and subscales was constructed for each subject with above average and exceptionally high results. Among the subjects with a disorder intensity of +2 standard deviations (N2SD=315) the most common types were: autodestructive impulse control disorder of the neurotic type with autodestructive tendencies shown through addictions and criminal activities (15%); asocial disorder (11%); agressive impulse control disorder (10%) and general anxiety disorder (10%). Those subjects with disorder intensity of +3 standard deviations (N3SD=101) show the same type of disorders as the previous group but with a more differentiated clinical picture, more manifested symptoms and the replacement of neurotic anxiety symptoms by depressive positions and overly risky behaviour.
