Validation of the Child Abuse Experience Inventory

Sažetak
The Child Abuse Experience Inventory (Karlović, 2001), mainly based on The Comprehensive Child Maltreatment Scale for Adults (Higgins and McCabe, 2000a) was validated on a sample of 328 students of various faculties in Zagreb. Internal reliability of the inventory is very high (a =.94). The principal component analysis extracted four factors which were then rotated into varimax position. Factors were named: 1. emotional abuse and witnessing emotional abuse, 2. mild forms of physical abuse and witnessing physical abuse, 3. emotional neglect and witnessing neglect, 4. severe forms of physical abuse and sexual abuse. The inventory can, apart for screening purposes, find its use as a basis for the structured interview.
