Philosophy as the greatest and last battle in the work of Lav Šestov

Sažetak

The author discusses the approach to philosophy in the work of Lav Sestov. He has come to the conclusion that Lav Sestov struggled against the traditional conception of philosophy and considered it not as love of wisdom, of reflection, but as the greatest and last battle against everything threatening and endangering human life. It is a struggle against evil which Sestov assumes to spring from the delusions of knowledge.
Sestov's main mistake is to wish to conquer evil and philosophy by philosophizing. He has failed to grasp that simultaneous comprehension of the limits of human cognition and the crossing of these limits also represent a human capacity.
