Cooperation of Milivoj Šrepel and Josef Karásek

Sažetak

Czech Slavist Josef Karásek published Dubrovačke legende in 1913 in
Prague. The book contained a transliterated text of the code found in the Franciscan library in Dubrovnik. The manuscripts originated in the 16th and 17th centuries and included mostly medieval texts of Christian apocryphal literature and legends. A reprint of this book was not published in Croatia until 1996, but Karásek had offered the manuscript to JAZU (the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts) for publication as early as 1902. The main proponent of publishing Dubrovačke legende under the auspices of the Academy was Milivoj
Šrepel, until his death in 1905. After many years of negotiations Karásek ended his attempts to publish the legends in Croatia. The author attempts to provide an overview of the cooperation between Milivoj Šrepel and Josef Karásek since their first contacts in 1892.
