Sažetak Over my years-long work in higher education, I have noticed attitudes and collected information on students' behaviour related to physical education, in particular their attitudes towards physical activity. My hypothesis is that the state of health and lifestyle of preschool education students at our faculty, in addition to their
physical activity, is at higher level compared to social pedagogy students. The article aims at testing my hypothesis in the case of students who enrolled our faculty in 2004. Data on 249 first-year students were collected by means of questionnaires in
quantitative research. These questionnaires contained items on students’ habits concerning maintaining their health (especially by physical activities), harming their health and self-assessment of their state of health. The replies enabled the research on similarities and differences between the behaviour regarding health and lifestyle of
the two groups of students. Based on the data collected from the questionnaires, my hypothesis on health threatening activities has shown significant deviation only in the case of smoking habits. However, it proved true that there is a significant difference
in physical activities between the two groups, in particular among preschool education students.
