The Changes of Sea Level and Variations of Moon Declinations in Nutation Period at Four Tide Gauges in Croatia

Sažetak

The paper explains the causes of high and low tide (tides) and describes the forces causing tide waves and nutation period. There are also the geometric positions of the Moon and the Sun described in relation to the Earth that define maximum or minimum tide wave height. A short overview of sea level measurements along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea is also presented with the present situation referring to already built permanent and temporary measuring stations. The connection of the changes of Moon declinations with the changes of sea level is explained by means of analysing the computed mean sea levels in the nutation period of 18.61 years for the following tide gauges: Dubrovnik, Split, Bakar and Rovinj. The mean sea levels for 34 epochs (6794 days) have been computed with altogether 230 996 daily values of mean sea levels.
