HIPOKRATOVA TALASOTERAPIJA OD ANTIKE DO MODERNOG TALASOTERAPIJSKOG CENTRA U CRIKVENICI

Abstract

This article describes the life of Hippocrates, who was indeed the greatest medical figure of Hellenic arts and sciences between the 5 th and the 4 th century BC. Of particular interest are his works on climatotherapy, thalassotherapy and heliotherapy in which Hippocrates consid- ers local climates, the role of the seasons and especially of winds. The article concludes with a brief description of a special hospital for medical rehabilitation Thalassotherapia in Crikvenica, Croatia, as it substantially relies on Hippocrates's experi- ence in most treatment procedures.
