Abstract

Introduction: Teamwork is an important determinant in holistic medicine as it offers better medical care for the patient.Objective: The goal of this study is to define and identify the effects of physiotherapist profiles on teamwork functioning in physiotherapy.Methods: The sample included 33 physiotherapists and 33 physiotherapists with bachelor degrees. The Team Work Efficacy Questionnaire, Posinković (2003), has been used. Results and discussion: The older and more experienced physiotherapists showed a tendency towards more negative ratings regarding teamwork indicators measured with the Team Work Efficacy Questionnaire. Physiotherapists demonstrated more negative values when rating ‘communication’ and ‘the complaining system’ within the team, compared to their higher educated colleagues. On the other hand physiotherapists with bachelor degree regarded ‘the duty competence’ less positive than their colleagues with the lower educational degree. Summary: Work experience, age, educational level, and working institution are variables that modulate the perception of the teamwork within the tested sample of physiotherapists.
