Biological and psychological specificity of mental patients is often the reason for their depersonalization, dehumanization and exclusion from the “political”. The starting point is the assumption that every person is legally competent and should have the same rights and obligations as other citizens. Not only the basic civil rights, but also the right to control his private property, the right to work or start a family. It is the basic human right of every individual to live in the community, not isolated and stigmatized for life, watching the political processes without actively participating in them. Mental disorders arise within the social network; therefore networks necessary processes should aim at finding answers to recovery and reintegration of the individual into the community, in order to improve mental health and quality of life for the patients and their families.Structures responsible to provide adequate help treat them as criminals, immature people, or as someone who is entirely responsible for the situation they are in. Reflection on the status of mental patients as a political entity raises the question of whether they are seen as subjects in the community, and laws aimed at regulating their rights, tell us that this is questionable. The work seeks to demonstrate the complexity of the problem and the relationship between different social groups in the community requires rethinking of the social status of mental patients and possible extension of social responsibility.
