Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

UPUTE AUTORIMA

 

Narodna umjetnost je časopis koji objavljuje radove s područja etnologije, folkloristike, kulturne antropologije, filologije, etnomuzikologije, etnokoreologije, ali i drugih srodnih disciplina. Časopis izlazi dvaput godišnje, pri čemu je prvi broj na engleskom i u pravilu je tematski, a drugi je na hrvatskom jeziku. Rok za predaju radova za broj na engleskom je 31. prosinca, a za broj na hrvatskom 1.srpnja.

U obzir za objavljivanje dolaze samo radovi koji nisu prethodno objavljivani niti se nalaze u recenzijskom postupku za neki drugi časopis te se od autora očekuje da svojem radu prilože izjavu u tom smislu. Radovi se zaprimaju isključivo u elektroničkom obliku, na adresu http://hrcak.srce.hr/ojs/index.php/nu, a prihvaćaju se za objavljivanje nakon provedenog recenzijskog postupka, u slučaju da on rezultira dvjema pozitivnim recenzijama. Tiskanje članka u Narodnoj umjetnosti podrazumijeva i njegovo objavljivanje u elektroničkom obliku.

Radovi trebaju biti opsega do 25 kartica (uključujući sažetke, bilješke, literaturu i grafičke priloge), napisani fontom Times New Roman, veličine 12, s proredom 1.5. Na prvoj stranici rada valja navesti sljedeće podatke: puni naslov i podnaslov članka, ime i prezime autora/autorice, naziv i adresu institucije u kojoj je autor/ica zaposlen/a (ili kućnu adresu) te adresu elektroničke pošte.

Radovima treba priložiti sažetke na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku, opsega do 200 riječi, te popis ključnih riječi (do 5). Pri upućivanju na tuđe tekstove ili njihovu citiranju, izvor na koji se referira treba navesti u zagradi unutar teksta: npr. (Giddens 2005: 34-35) ili (Williams 2003). Bilješke (fusnote) služe za dodatna objašnjenja, komentare ili digresije te se navode na dnu pojedine stranice. Sve stranice moraju biti numerirane. Slikovne priloge, glazbene primjere i tabele treba predati u zasebnom dokumentu, uz precizne upute na koja mjesta u tekstu oni trebaju doći. U popis literature (bibliografiju) na kraju članka treba uvrstiti sve radove navedene u tekstu, abecednim redom prema prezimenima autora te kronološkim redom za radove istog autora. Literatura se navodi u skladu s priloženim modelom:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS (FOR MANUSCRIPTS IN ENGLISH)


Narodna umjetnost: Croatian Journal of Ethnology and Folklore Research features articles from the fields of ethnology, folkloristics, ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology and cultural anthropology. The journal is published twice a year: the first issue is always in English, while the second issue is published in Croatian.

Narodna umjetnost is published in both hard copy and open-access electronic version.

Narodna umjetnost adheres to a rigorous double-blind reviewing policy. All manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editors and only those papers that meet the scientific and editorial standards of the journal and fit within the aims and scope of the journal are sent for outside review. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees.

Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts electronically at the URL: http://hrcak.srce.hr/ojs/index.php/nu.

Each manuscript should contain a detachable title page with the full title and subtitle (if any), followed by the name(s), current affiliation(s), contact details (full address, phone, fax, email) and a short biographical note of the author(s).

The manuscript should include an abstract of up to 100 words, a summary of up to 200 words, and a list of up to five keywords. Tables, musical examples, (black-and-white) photographies, and other illustrative material should be sent as separate files with an indication of their location in the manuscript. The complete submitted material should be no longer than 8000 words.

Every submission should include a cover letter confirming that all authors have agreed to the submission and that the manuscript is not currently being considered for publication by any other journal.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions from copyright holders for reproducing any illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere.

Times New Roman should be used as the typeface. The main text and bibliography should be 12 point in size, footnotes 11 point. Phonetic characters may be inserted using a Unicode complaint font such as Doulos-SIL (available freely from SIL).

Double quote marks should be used for quotations of any sort, single quote marks only for quotations within quotations.

Longer quotations of more than five lines long should be set off from the main text and indented. They should not be preceded or followed by quote marks and should not be placed in italics.

References should appear within the text e.g. (Ladin 1995: 44), and later, under References cited, alphabetically by author and chronologically for each author. Please use the following examples as a model:
