Abstract
Data on the production and catch of fish according to species, on the surface of the fish ponds, on the means of fish catching and on the distribution of the product and catch in 1993 is presented. The surface area used for production of fish has decreased by 545 ha or 4.75% The total amount of fish has decreased by 1.744 tons or 17.03%. The highest production of fish was reached by the fish farm Končanica with 1.032 kg/ha.
The feeding coefficient is 3.40 kg, the same as in the previous year. Only on one fish farm was the feeding coefficient less than 2.0 kg (1.77 and on four large farms this coefficient was greater than 4.20 kg. 1'he main fish food is still wheat followed by corn.
The amount of fertilizer used was decreased by 21.19%. The fiy carp growing ponds make up 0.83% of the surface area of the entire fish farm, the young carp ponds 25.14 % and the culturing ponds for consumption fish 73.24%.
The total amount of fish in the carp ponds was 714 kg/ha, and in the trout ponds it was 127.7 tons/ha. The carp is the highest produced fish with 83.07%, then the herbivorous fish with 7.06 and all other fish make up 9.87% of the total production.
In the structure of herbivorous fish the grass carp is leading with 46.38%, followed by the big head carp with 39.48% and the silver carp with 14.14%. In comparison with the previous year the production of trout has significantly increased (250%), while the production of pike perch has decreased (50%). fish catch in open waters has increased by 41,71% in comparison to the previous year.
Carp made up 81.16% of the total production and catch of freshwater fish, the herbivorous fish made up 6.83%, trout 5.18%, the sheat fish, pike perch and pike 2.18% and all other fish species 4.65%.
As far as the distribution of production and catch, 54.50% were sold on the market, 36.82% were used f'or reproduction (stocking the fish farms), mortalities were 5.33% and for personal use (sports fishing) 3.35% was used. The number of fisheries workers increased by 4.46% and the production per worker decreased by 19.01% in comparison to the previous year.
According to each worker their was an average production of 9.29 tons of fish. In 1993 the highest production of fish was reached in Garešnica with 13.78 tons of fish per worker.
