Sažetak

Phytoplankton is the most significant primary producer and is very important for the metabolism of the ecosystem of the fish ponds. Some phytoplankton species, together with physico-chemical indicators, give evidence of a certain water quality in the ponds. The quality of the culture area directly influences the growth, culture, condition and health state of the fish.
The propose of this work was to investigate the qualitative components of phytoplankton in carp fish ponds and the effect on the water quality in the fish farm.
Phytoplankton investigations were carried out from April to September, 1990, on two culture areas on the fish farms Narta and Lipovljan. The ponds were mainly stocked with two year old carp fry.
Paralelly, a qualitative analysis of phytoplankton was carried out, and measured were the primary physico-chemical parameters (temperature and transparency of the water, depth of the fish ponds, pH, dissolved oxygen, relative quantity of oxygen in %, free CO2, comsumption of KMnO4) by methods which are used in limnology.
The results of the physco-chemical parameters are presented in Tables 1 and 2. It was determined that the obtained values ranged in the limits characteristic for Cyprinid fish farms.
In the qualitative components of the phytoplankton a total of 143 plankton algae were determined, which belong to the systematic families: Cyanophyta, Euglenophyta, Pyrrophyta, Chrysophyta and Chlorophyta. The families, Cyanophyta and Pyrrophyta, did not play a significant role in the phytoplankton community, which was evidenced by the results of the calculated coefficient of the flora identity.
In the fish ponds of the fish farm Narta, the characteristic phytoplankton communities are the Euglenaceae, Chlorococcales, Melosira type, and on the fish farm Lipovljan the characteristic phytoplankton communities are the Diatomeae, Chlorococcales, Euglenaceae type.
The saprobity index values calculated according to the indicator species on the investigated fish farm Narta ranged form 1.8 to 2.1, and on the fish ponds of the fish farm Lipovljan from 1.9 to 2.2, within the limit of the beta-mesosaprobic degree, that is the II class bonity.
Based on the obtained results we can conclude that the water in the fish ponds of the fish farm Lipovljan is of lesser quality than the water in the fish ponds of the fish farm Narta.
