His work has left an indelible imprint on the theory and practice of social work. Psychoanalytical theory is in fact the first consistent theoretical corpus that influenced the development of the theoretical basis of social work, as well as the practical application of that knowledge, and this influenced can be seen until the present day. This paper presents some of the most significant concepts found in the psychoanalytical theory, as well as their importance in both the theory and practice of social work. Special attention was given to the most important methodological consequences of integrating the fundamental principles of the psychoanalytical theory into the theory and practice of social work.
