Contemporary Development of the Port of Rijeka and Survey of the Specialized Functions of the Bay of Bakar

Sažetak

Between 1965-1980 the port of Rijeka developed into a complex system of port facilities, with Rijeka as its centre and with specialized basins at Bakar, Omišalj, Raša and Pula. Territorial expansion entailed a considerable growth in the volume of goods traffic, especially bulk cargo, but it also highlighted a number of problems. A typical port and industrial zone is developing in the area of the bay of Bakar and on the nothern portion of the island of Krk.
