Abstract

The pulpal blood flow in canines of dogs was assessed by polarographic registration of hydrogen desaturation curve using a platinum electrode implanted into the dental pulp across the buccal cavity. The studied substances, i. e. propolis, calxyl, 0.9% NaCl and 96%, ethanol, were applied into the lingual cavities of the same teeth. Their effect on the dental pulp blood flow was assessed on the basis of alternations observed in the pulpal blood flow. According to the results thus obtained, NaCI and ethanol appeared to elicit no marked effect on pulpal blood flow, whereas propolis was found to elevate the blood flow level throughout 180 minutes. Calxyl, on the otheir hand, was found to significantly decrease the pulp blood flow during the first 90 minutes.
