INTERNATIONAL DIRECTIVES FOR THE ORGANISATION OF BASIC OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES
ANA BOGADI-ŠARE
MARIJA ZAVALIĆ
Sažetak
Rapid technological developments in the world economy, new market relations and the potentially harmful effect of these changes on the health of the workers pose a wide range of demands on the occupational health services. International standards and recommendations are required as directives in determining basic, i.e. minimal requirements that need to be met by the occupational health services. The key documents in the field are the Convention of the International Work Organisation, no. 161, on Occupational Health Services and the Recommendation on Occupational Health Services, no. 171. In 2003, the Joint ILO/WHO Committee on Occupational Health defined detailed criteria in the draft document entitled Basic Occupational Health Services. The paper presents basic directives that comprise tasks and aims, organisation and infrastructure, human resources, activities and programs, as well as the financing of occupational health services.
