Sažetak

The application of exraoral forces in the therapy of class II malocculusions has given optimal results. In the headgear is used under optimal conditions, a purely distal translated shifting of the molars can be achieved. The point of intersection of the resistance of the tooth plays a key role in the biomechanics ofthe shift. If the line of the action of the extraoral force passes through the intersection of the resistance of the tooth, translational shift of the tooth will occur and there will be no sagittal inclination of the vertical axis of the tooth. If, in addition, the direction of the action of the extraoral force is also perpendicular to the vertical axis of the tooth, the translational shift will be only distal, i.e. there will be no intrusional or extrusional components. This method greatly depends on the precise determination of the intersection point of the resistance of the tooth. The success of this method also depends on the precise determination of the direction of the extraoral force acting upon the tooth.
