Abstract

Calculating multiphoton processes starts from the time-dependent perturbation theory. The main difficulty in determining the probability of the process is computing the infinite summation over intermediate states of atom. There are several mathematical methods that can be used to solve this problem. The aim of the paper is to compare the different methods used in the theory of multiphoton processes. For this purpose, we restricted ourselves to two-photon transitions in hydrogen-like atoms, because these simple systems are suitable for numerical calculations in all the approaches considered.

Keywords

Method of implicit summation; Method of Green functions; Method of Kelsey and Macek; Method of direct summation; multiphoton processes; hydrogen-like atoms
