Sažetak

The article speaks about the calling of Jesus' first disciples according to John’s Gospel (Jn 1:19-2:12). The author recalls that John the Baptist is a witness who prepares for the coming of Jesus and shows Jesus to his disciples. The disciples of John the Baptist accept his testimony. Some of them freely decide to follow Jesus, speak with him and remain with him. Afterwards, they invited others to join them. This created the community of Jesus' followers. One day Jesus went to a wedding in Cana, Galilee. Jesus' mother was already there. Seeing Jesus' miracle, Jesus' disciples went from being followers to believers. Interpreting individual lines in John’s Gospel, the author points out the importance of a calling, personal testimony and walking with Jesus. He also explains the similarity and difference between the terms "to follow" Jesus and "to believe in" Jesus. In all of this, it is necessary to bear in mind the importance and significance of Mary's presence in Cana, Galilee. Only when Jesus' disciples changed from being followers to believers, in communion with Mary and Jesus, was the first community of believers created.
