Abstract

On the proposal of the Slovenian Episcopal conference, the Commission for the preparation of curriculum and textbooks for religious education in catholic post-compulsory general education (gimnazija) was established. In Slovenia, the religious education has been organised in the scope of catholic general upper-secondary schools (gimnazija) exclusively, and not public schools. In past several years and with agreements between the church and the state, the Episcopal conference did not succeed in regulating the status of religious education in public schools appropriately.
In this article, objectives and contents of the fourth grade subject "Religion and Culture" are introduced systematically. Furthermore, the article describes didactical elements and integral planning of contents.
