Abstract

The question regarding the existence of the world and its order and laws, always led to an encounter of theology, philosophy and science. The nature of this encounter is the theme of the article, and is observed in two phases, namely before and after the “new science” came into being. We will try to elucidate it on the example of the cosmological argument for the existence of God, which was before and after the “science revolution” a place of encounter and discussion for scientific, philosophical ad religious interpretations regarding the beginning and the origin of the world. Therefore, we shall present the nature of this argument in the context of other arguments for the existence of God, its historical development and main variants.
