Abstract

Three approaches to the analysis of structural damage, based on measurement of modal characteristics, are presented in the paper. The relationship between the change of structural parameters (rigidity and mass) and modal characteristics containing the structure's frequencies and vectors, is presented. Special computer programs, DT1 and DT2, were developed to enable determination of the location and extent of structural damage based on measurement of the structure's frequencies prior to and after the damage.
