Abstract

Kuzma Vučetić was born in Hvar in 1864. Ordained priest in 1888, he became a chaplain in Hvar and later on a parish priest in Nerežišća, island of Brač. Deeply interested in local history, he trained himself to a skilled palaeographer and became a collaborator of what is nowadays Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, for which he transcribed many old historical documents. He died in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar in 1948. The paper presents his life and the inventory of his chief archival fund, that after his death was transferred to the State Archives in Zadar. Its content is very important for the history of Hvar and especially for that of the island of Brač, both ecclesiastical and civil. An unpublished document from 1294 is added at the end.
