Sažetak
The role and importance of literacy has changed through centuries. In the 21st century literacy gains a new dimension, under the influence of the development of information and communication technologies. In the modern society computer science literacy is no longer the need of those who acquire new knowledge, but it starts being important in the working environment, family and society in general. The basis for the development of modern society is computer science literacy of its individuals, and the necessary prerequisite of information literacy is computer science literacy. Information literacy represents understanding the need for information and having knowledge about finding and using information to solve problems and make decisions. Computer science literacy refers to the capability to use computer hardware and software. Computer science literacy is one of the eight key competencies of the Council of Europe, since it is very important to keep pupils in contact with information communication technologies during their secondary education. When we talk about pupils of economic schools, computer science knowledge and skills are a necessary prerequisite for the realisation of modular curriculum of training companies, and thanks to the support computer science gives to the subject Business operatings of training companies, in Economic school Katarina Zrinski we use the appropriate term ICT4PVT. The aim of computer science in economic school is not to create informaticians, but to create economists with computer science literacy, in order to gain entrepreneurial competency.
