Abstract

The prediction and observation of the nature and dimensions of damaged zones in the surrounding rock mass and understanding the mechanisms of fracturing and crushing of the rock mass with explosives is one of the most important parameters in blasting design in order to obtain preferred granulation and reduce dama¬ging effects of blasting on the environment.
An overview of existing rock breakage theories with the energy released by the detonation of explosives is given in this paper.
