Acute pancreatitis in children

Sažetak

Acute pancreatitis is a disease that is becoming increasingly recognized in the pediatric population. There are numerous differences between the pediatric and adult disease, including etiology, natural history and prognosis. Nevertheless, the current approach to the
disease and its treatment is mostly based on adult studies. Currently, many studies are aimed at finding the characteristics of the pediatric type of the disease. In this review we summarize
the current concepts on the etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of pediatric acute pancreatitis.
