Abstract

The paper gives a hydrogeological categorisation of the Sana River drainage basin. Three hydrogeological areas are determined within the studied drainage basin. The southern and southwestern parts of the basin belong to the holo-karst areas of southwestern Bosnia, the central area belongs to the central-Bosnian region, while the northern parts of the basin fall within the ophiolite zone. In line with this, terrain with aquifers of karst-fracture porosity are dominant. Aquifers of intergranular, intergranular and/or fracture, and fracture porosity, and terrains without aquifers were also identified.
