Abstract

A conventional, industrialized agriculture is one of the most important sources of environmental pollution. In even more European countries farmers deal with the ecological agriculture, which is based on the preservation of a high–quality environment. In such a way they produce “healthy food” and contribute to their quality of life. In spite of the fact that Coratia has a number of geographical advantages to develop an ecological agriculture, there are just few farms which apply this kind of agriculture. Agriculture as a science is able to actively partcipate in establishing the guidelines for an ecological agriculture in the whole Croatian territory, especially on the islands and in the mountain area.
