Abstract

In this article the importance of early functional therapy and team work on
relation surgeon-physiatrist-physiotherapist in prevention and rehabilitation of
posttraumat'ic, inactive hypotrophy of muscules quadricepse (MQ) is emphasized. A
plan for individual treatment of each patient should be done at once considering
possible general or local contrali.ndicat'ions. The method chosen in early functional
therapy is isometric (static) exercise of MQ of siCk leg and actve rehabilitation exercise
on all joints of all extremities·. Special care is taken of the importance of isometric
(statdc) and :isotonic (dyna·mic) exercises. U is ·possible to include eledrostimulation
of MQ here as well, wdth so called increasing impulses or use of diadynamic
currents (modulation V). In later phase of physical therapy the isotonic exercise of
sick MQ, electrostimulation of MQ, application of modulated current on MQ (outlet
V) are quoted, and, if necessary, also the application of other physical procedures
such as: thermotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, working therapy etc.
