Sažetak
Half a century ago, Harvey Cox was certain that (Christian) faith and religion are in danger of extinction in the space of a secular city. From today's point of view, cities become a setting of a special religious crea-tivity. On the basis of Cox’s diagnosis and the theology of the Second Vatican Council, this paper argues for a closer look at contemporary cit-ies as loci theologici. The urban space offers a lot to learn and to discover for theology and the church. In relation to contemporary cities as an ob-ject of research, every one-way theology is a dead-end theology. The second part of the article delivers insight into the city of Hamburg’s po-tential as a challenging locus theologicus alienus and broaches a hetero-topia (M. Foucault), a non-place, (M. Augé) and the danger of a voyeur-istic top-down-perspective (M. de Certeau).
