Sažetak
In 1976 the expected average number of weaned piglets in litters from the first to the twelfth was published. lt was also reported (Sviben, 1976) that at least 94% of the nursed piglets would survive after early weaning and that at least 96% of piglets would survive the rearing period for fattening and breeding. These data served as the ground for estimating the expected average number of piglets for delivery at the end of rearing period per every subsequent litter from the first to the twelfth. In the course of 1979 the data were collected on the number of piglets from the litters of sows from farmers at O. O. K. Velika, Agricultural and Processing Plant, Kutjevo. The data made calculations of the average number of delivered piglets from the first to the twelfth litters of the above sows possible. The mean values were compared with the expected average. The average number of piglets delivered per litter of sows from the farm above mentioned exceeded the expected number only of the sows farrowing for the second, eighth and ninth time, and with some deviations. A considerably lower average number of piglets per litter than the expected concerned the sows farrowing for the sixth and seventh time with some variances as well. In litters where a large number of piglets had been expected negative deviations were insignificant. This can be explained by inadequate care and treatment of the sows farrowing for the third, fourth and fifth time. We should mention that the average number of piglets delivered per litter, expected as well as realized, also included the weaklings which were not included for further breeding and fattening.
