Sažetak

Silicon (Si) is an element contained in larger quantities in the soil, because it is an integral part of the clay mineral - aluminosilicate. However, as the clay mineral is very stable, enriching the soil with silicon, based on the decomposition of clay minerals is very slow. Degradation of clay minerals (aluminosilicate) only occurs in very acidic conditions of soils, like forest soils. Another source of silicon in the soil is aqueous solution of the soil, where the silicon is in the form of monosilicate acid, as H4SiO4. Although silicon (Si) is not classified as essential (important) biogenic elements for plant nutrition, a lot of research confirms the positive effect of application of silicon fertilizer on yield and quality parameters of different agriculture crops.
