Sažetak
Fruit growing is a very important branch of agricultural production. In well organized conditions of production and fruit placement, a far bigger gross yield per area unit can be achieved in fruit production than in other branches of agricultural production. With the rising of the living standard the consumption of fresh fruit and fruit products also rises. Because of its nutritive and therapeutic values, fruit is a part of the nutrition throughout the year. Owing to the enhancement of fruit storing and processing technologies, better traffic connections and better organization of market supply, fresh fruit and quality products are almost always available to us. However, the price of fruit and fruit products is still high, so the producers have good economic effects. Because f all the above, the interest of fruit producers is rising and fruit growing is constantly increased and enhanced.
The main goal of modern fruit production is to produce the biggest yield of quality fruit in the shortest time possible and with the lowest production cost. In order to achieve this goal, fruit-grower must know the profession well. It must be emphasized that fruit growing is a particularly difficult profession, so expertise is needed for success and good production. Fruit-grower must be well acquainted with the biological characteristics of the sorts and undergrounds of fruit-trees, together with the external or ecological conditions of growing areas, as well as all the major technical and economic problems that appear in fruit growing.
Various ecological conditions offer various possibilities of growing certain sorts of fruit. Time limits for performing certain pomo-technical and agro-technical operations also vary. It is very difficult to encompass the complexity of this problem in short in a way that would provide the producer with all the necessary information.
