Sažetak
At six work places (A, B, C, D, E, F) in a copperplate plant workers are continually exposed to increased heat load while performing their daily tasks. This is due to the radiant heat energy emitted by smelting and roasting furnaces and by various procedures of metal refining. Heat stress was found at places A, D, E, and F. Workers' heat load was estimated with the Jokl-Roubal's method which is suitable for direct use at work places. The study included 30 workers. At places A, E and F the workers were exposed to a risk of hyperthermia. It was found that all workers at places A, D, E and F would not be able to maintain heat balance if they should perform their job continually during the whole shift. According to the results of measurements of the rate of heat exchange between worker's body and his surroundings it is suggested to establish work-rest periods which would ensure better thermoregulation and a more efficient action of other physiological mechanisms.
