Sažetak
The authors discuss an original type of osteosynthesis for comminuted fractures of the patellar apex, using a basket plate following Smiljanić's technique. Osteosynthesis with a basket plate has been performed in over 57 cases and has proven to be an efficient procedure. The established stability degree is fairly sufficient to stand the effort occuring to the knee extension system during normal walk on a flat surface during the rehabilitation period. This type of osteosynthesis ensures an early load-bearing capacity without cast immobilization. Final results in a series of 57 patients were very good and the use of this method is recommend.
