Sažetak
Aim: to compare patients who underwent radical prostatectomy according to either positive or negative surgical margins.
Patients and methods: we compared patients' age, preoperative PSA values, Gleason score (pre- and postoperatively) as well as T-staging.
Results: There were 46 patients with positive margins (age 65.2 years, PSA 13.1, preoperative Gleason score 6.3, postoperative Gleason score 7.4) and 67 patients with negative margins (age 65.4 years, PSA 12.0, preoperative Gleason score 4.8, postoperative Gleason score 5.3). Six (10.8%) out of 56 patients with T2 stage had positive and 50 (89.2%) had negative margins. Among patients with T3 stage, 39 (69.6%) out of 56 patients had positive and 17 (30.4%) had negative margins. One patient was found with T4 stage. Conclusion: A significant difference between two groups of patients (positive vs. negative margins) was found according to preoperative
and postoperative Gleason score as well as according to T-staging. There were no differences between groups according to patients' age or preoperative PSA values.
