Sažetak
Analysing aircraft accidents on the world fleet in past 20 years, it can be determined that there is a trend of increasing number of maintenance errors as primary cause of accident. Substantial improvement of aircraft and its systems leads to decrease of pilot errors and aircraft as primary causes of aircraft accidents and, as there is no substantial improvement in the area of maintenance, maintenance errors are more frequently causes of accidents. It is important to take steps both locally and globally to build new approach to human factors in maintenance. The first and most
important step is to dismiss the old dogma about maintenance being error free and about exclusively personal responsibility of maintenance technicians for maintenance errors. The whole industry, together with the authorities, is now putting a lot of efforts to replace the blame culture with the just culture. The just culture anticipates that human errors happen and that all circumstances and facts have to be collected and analysed in order to use this information for prevention of future errors. This article is emphasizing non-destructive inspections as a very important part of aircraft maintenance with significant role in increasing reliability of the aircraft.
