Course on Management and Conservation of Marine Resources in the Mediterranean : [report]

Sažetak
International Ocean Institute (Valletta, Malta) organized a course on management and conservation of marine resources in the Mediterranean. The course was held in Trieste (Italy), from 29th April - 24th May 1991.
The director of the Course was Dr. Anton Vratuša, Honorary President of the International Center for Public Enterprises in Developing Countries (Ljubljana, Yugoslavia).
Sixteen participants from eight Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Yugoslavia) attended the Course. All of them were actively involved in various activities including preparation of module reports, analytical exercises, case studies, country reports.
The programm was organized in 4 module:
1.) Introduction to Oceanography and the Mediterranean Marine Environment ; 2.) Introduction to the Law of the Sea ; 3.) The Mediterranean Action Plan ; 4.) Major Issues Facing the Mediterranean Community.
The Course was designed for government officials, training and research institutes dealing with marine affairs in Mediterranean countries, with a view to familiarize the participants with the structure of the marine environment and with the major uses of its resources, to stress the common interests between developed and developing countries in ocean management generally and specifically in the Mediterranean, and to study the processes of harmonizing national legislation with international law dealing with relevant problems.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of the principle of multidisciplinary and integrative approach to the problems of the Mediterranean.
