Horse-fly collection (Diptera, Tabanidae) of the Department of natural science of the Museum of Slavonia – part II

Sažetak
Analysis of the Horse-Fly Collection (Diptera, Tabanidae) of the Department of Natural Science of the Museum of Slavonia has identified a total of 2,223 specimens, out of which 32 species are classified into 7 genera and 2 subfamilies. To date, 78 species of this fly have been detected in Croatia. The Chrysopsinae subfamily is represented by the genera ofSilvius and Chrysops andthe Tabaninae subfamily by the genera of Atylotus, Hybomitra, Tabanus, Haematopota and Philipomyia. Out of the total number of horse-fly specimens, there are 15 male flies classified into 6 species while the other samples are females. The specimens were sampled at a total of 104 sites, the greatest share of which is located on the territory of the Republic of Croatia and a smaller one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia (Vojvodina) and Montenegro. Some specimens were sampled between 1985 and 1991 whereas most of them were sampled from 1987 to 1990. The collection has been imported into the Museum M++ IT system and can be found in the Museum documentation under inventory numbers MSO-Pr-1746-3968.
The Catalogue of the Horse-Fly Collection contains scientific names of species according to Chvála (1988) and corresponding higher systematic categories. Each species is provided with data on the site, UTM field, datum, gender, inventory number, sampler and the person who identified it.
