Sažetak

Q fever is an acute, chronic infectious disease caused by Coxiella burnetii, pleomorphic, intracellular bacillus. Clinical symptoms range from mild, such as elevated temperature with no signs of pneumonia causing the infection to remain unrecognized, to severe with dominant neurological manifestations. Serological method, microorganism isolation or PCR is important for diagnosis confirmation. Tetracyclines, macrolides and quinolones are used in the treatment. This case report brings the family doctor's reference to the specific zoonosis as well as his acquaintance with epidemiological conditions in the rural and insular environment and the multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients.
