Abstract
Latent dimensions of 23 anthropometric variables have been analyzed on the basis of factor and taxonomic model in the standardized image space on the sample of 540 adult men between 19 and 27 years of age.
Three latent dimensions, achieved by orthoblique transformation could be interpreted as longitudinal dimensionality of the skeleton, subcutaneous fatty tissue and body volume. Measures of transversal dimension of the skeleton have been associated with the volume factor.
Out of the tree taxonomic dimensions, two were capable of being interpreted as the development of the skeleton and the development of soft tissue. The third taxonomic dimension was very weakly defined. The factor of logitudinal dimensionality of the skeleton is highly correlated with the taxonomic dimension which has been interpreted as skeleton development and the factors of subcutaneous fatty tissue and body volume are significantly correlated with the taxonomic dimension which was defined by the development of soft tissue. The third taxonomic dimension is in low correlations with all three latent dimensions achieved by factor procedure.
