Sažetak

Migraine is a millennial, still unsolved problem, whose pathophysiological mosaic is still "under construction". Migraine is a severe and disabling neurological disorder, according to the World Health Organization, globally ranked sixth in the degree of disability. Due to its pulsating nature, until recently it was understood exclusively as a “vascular” disorder, but the accumulated knowledge gained through numerous scientific studies has led to the concept of migraine as a neurovascular disorder, which has a genetic basis, or disorder of the whole brain. Today, the focus of migraine research is on molecular mechanisms and complex signaling between different brain areas, thus creating a more clearly pathophysiological mosaic of migraine, and thus new treatment targets. Although we have many new drugs to treat migraines today, and some new ones are being developed, migraines still remain an unresolved enigma. Maybe it’s time to change our viewing angle?
