Sažetak
The evaluation of police officers is the result of hierarchical supervision carried out by the immediate superior over the subordinate police officer. It is a legal obligation that is implemented once a year and the purpose is to focus on quality and efficient performance of official duties in accordance with regulations and rules of the profession, encouraging personal behavior in accordance with the Police Code of Ethics, and determining their contribution to work. The procedure for evaluating the work of police officers is formally prescribed and is carried out in three phases. During the year-round hierarchical supervision, the role of the immediate supervisor is significant and crucial. Namely, he is a team leader, advisor, motivator, support, supervisor; and at the same time the one who proposes the final annual grade. His skills of successful communication, counseling, motivating and guiding police officers are extremely important. A number of problems and errors can occur during the implementation of the evaluation process and the performance analysis of a police officer. In order to neutralize problems and mistakes, the manager must have a basic knowledge of assessment and should be aware of assessment errors. The evaluation he makes must be as objective as possible and equivalent to the successes of the police officer and his behavior.
