Abstract

In this article, the author analyses the pastoral aspects of relations between John Paul II and the young. The image of the young that the Pope sent around the world strongly witnesses his respect and love towards them and they are especially filled with hope and trust that John Paul II nurtured towards the young. For him the young are the hope of the Church and the hope of the world. The author recognise exceptional pastoral value in the World Youth Day that John Paul II established. A true pastoral project can be found during nineteen world encounters with the young. Based on the Pope's letters to the young, his speeches to the young during pastoral visits around the world, his audiences, Angeluses and in particular, the programme of World Youth Day, the author highlights the fundamental features of John Paul It's pastoral project for the young. In the conclusion, the author presents several useful guidelines (Decalogue) for future planning in pastoral care of the young. It is time that the young took their rightful place in pastoral activities of our Church.
