Sažetak
Introducing a young person, especially a child, to a world of scientific comprehension and understanding of the natural and social processes is responsible and serious work.
That is a basic task of education. A connection must be built between a child and the topics that are being thought, from the very beginning of the child’s education, all in an appropriate way for a child. It is possible only through the process of active learning because:
There are things you cannot do until you learn them But there are also things you cannot learn until you do them.
(Armenian)
This paper gives an overview of how to organize active learning in a “turbulent” and demanding environment of natural sciences like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Due to the difficulties and complexity of the topics and traditionally negative attitude
towards them (mathematics, physics and chemistry are traditionally held as difficult) it is not easy to make most of the students interested and stimulate them to learn actively. In search of the new teaching methods, teachers of the natural sciences at the Primary school
“Brajda”, Rijeka, together with the students and their guests from other primary schools from Rijeka, initiated a project named OPEN THE DOOR OF SCIENCE. As part of the project, a Day of Natural Sciences has been established, during which students actualize an
interactive relationship with the topics in their interdisciplinary connection.
