Abstract

During the review of archives of the Natural History Museum - Split, we found Grgur Bučić’s manuscript. By thorough examination (reading and translating the manuscript), it was determined to be a chronological list of pests and plant diseases on olive tree, vine, cereal crops, mulberry, oleander and citruses. Grgur Bučić recorded these in the period from 1896 to 1903. Except for different groups of bugs, the list also contains nematodes and groups of fungi that cause diseases or damage on crops or other plants of the Island of Hvar. This is the first such list for the Island of Hvar, as we know from professional literature. At the end of the list there is the note that says that the fungus Antennaria olaeophila Mont., which grows on olive trees (mulberry, oleander) was determined by professor Haberlandt (Austrian botanist) (a letter from July 20, 1903). Up to now, professional literature data didn’t indicate that Grgur Bučić cooperated with the listed botanist.
