Little picture with a big story: lokal printed material of Saponia Company in the Library Department of the Museum of Slavonia

Abstract

This paper represents a historical overview of the Saponia Company and its products from the very beginning in the year 1894. to the present day. The museologically conceived Library Department stores fragments of printed material of the previously mentioned factory, carefully stored within the Local Essekiana Collection, the Calendar Collection, the Ephemera Collection and the Newspaper Collection. The Library Department of the Museum of Slavonia is focused on collecting the local material, with emphasis on material until the end of WWII. It is actually the preserved printed material of this factory, from the city of Osijek, in the period between the two world war's, that testifies to the developed marketing activities of this factory, which then operated under the name Jugoslavensko d.d. Georg Schicht, i.e. Jugoslavensko d.d. Schicht-Lever, and brings it's cultural-historical story.
