Sažetak

Sulfur is an important element in the cultivation of grapevines. The first role is certainly as a fungicide against powdery mildew, however, sulfur has an important physiological role in numerous processes in the grapevine. Sulfur is important in nitrogen uptake and metabolism. Likewise, sulfur plays an important role in the synthesis of amino acids, of which the synthesis of methionine is particularly important. The source of sulfur for grapevines are numerous fertilizers that contain sulfur in sulfate form, such as potassium sulfate or magnesium sulfate, while the other part of sulfur comes from the mineralization of organic matter in the soil. Due to the proven positive effect of sulfur on the aromatic profile of numerous varieties of grapevines, it is necessary to take more care of sulfur application in grapevine fertilization.
