Cartographic Information in Geographical Information System

Abstract

The article describes the process of communication by means of spatial information in a GIS with purpose of a faultless transmission of their semantic dimension. The possible sources of errors are shown. There are discussed the characteristics of cartographic information, which represents inaccurate and in its content imperfect spatial models dependent on the used scale. Further, it is pointed to the problems of building a GIS, where the maps presents one of the main sources of spatial information.
